Fiesta a la Casa Del Sole
January 2005

Casa Del Sole is the name of the residence where we stayed when we were in Nouméa. As said in this page, the appartment we had was very nice. Fully equiped, very roomy, incredible view, well located, and very cheap. Because part of our stay in New Caledonia was spent away from Nouméa, and because my Mom's sister joined us a week after we arrived, we later changed the appartment for a bigger one, with an extra bedroom, but this time we couldn't get a view.

If you go to the Casa Del Sole web page, you would see that it is located in front of the "Baie des Citrons", that it is close to the equally beautiful "Anse Vata".

All pictures are available either in tar or zip formats. Also available is a tar archive of the original pictures, before being reworked (these are actually the same). Note that the tarballs contain all the pictures I took, not just the ones I present on this page.

Chef Stéphane

Stéphane loves cooking. And, as he says, he has 5 years of experience not just *working* in hotels, but rather *living* in hotels. So he learnt a lot not just in his fields. That's how he ended up kneading some bread with the Pastry Chef for instance. One of the recipes he learnt was "Croustillant de crevettes", which he prepared for us one evening...

The "Croustillant de crevette" is made with a prawn rolled inside a thin sheet of asian wrap with a bit of mint inside. It's then very lightly deep fried. It is served warm, dressed with a balsamic vinegar reduction and a light mango cream (mayonaise home-made by yours truly, and mango puree).

Voila!

As we say in French: Miam Miam! (Yummy!)
